Droughts and Wild Fire Will Occur More Often
I feel global warming is defiantly a huge factor for how many forest fires there has been in the last couple years. “On June 5, 2008 Governor Schwarzenegger declared a state-wide drought. Droughts fuel wildfires. Across western North America global warming has caused prolonged droughts - some areas are now entering their 13th year - and warmer temperatures. These are the same kind of conditions that led to the mega fires of 2003 and 2007.” In California in 2008 there was a record 850 wildfires that scorched 200,000 acres and set a new record. From March to May precipitation was the lowest since the huge drought of 1894. Global warming is raising the temperature of the earth and in tern that dries out the trees which is a perfect fuel for wildfires.

Global warming is a very large issue all across the world. Scientists everywhere have been working on things that will help fight the effects of climate change. Most of the things that they are creating are very complex but not all that uncommon. For people who live in North Vancouver all they have to do to see this technology is look up onto the top of Grouse Mountain. The wind turbine is powering the whole mountain and is drastically lowering there carbon footprint. There are many other technologies to combat global worming and some of them are wind, solar, and even nuclear power. All these high-tech things are very expensive and not very affordable for the average person there are also lots of little things that can help fight climate change. For example you can buy more energy efficient cars and appliances; you can also insulate your house better so you don’t have to crank your heat to stay warm. These things in the long run will save you money and also potentially save the planet.

There are many things that society can do to fight climate change and not all of them have to be drastic. Some examples of things that people and there societies can do are. Buy more energy efficient appliances and cars and they could also install solar panels. More things that they can do that are simple is not eat meat where different clothes and insulate your houses better. I think that our government can also do things to fight climate change. I think that they could give more money to scientist to research and create new technologies. If that doesn’t work I think that they could put a carbon tax on just like California and see if that works. If that doesn’t work they can invest in more energy efficient things so that they become cheaper and in a bigger supply because I feel people don’t buy them because they are more expensive than the ones that are bad for the environment.
